Amidu Tobiloba

Nigeria

Bio

Amidu Samson Tobiloba, also known as Amidu Tobiloba, is a Nigerian painter from Abeokuta, currently living and studying in Lagos. A graduate of Yaba College of Technology and trained at Olokun Art Studio, he is now pursuing his Higher National Diploma in painting. His journey as an artist began in 2020 and has been shaped by mentorship, experimentation, and personal reflection.

Amidu is known for creating captivating works that explore the complexities of human emotion and experience. With a keen eye for detail and a love for expressive brushstrokes, he brings to life scenes of people engaged in thoughtful, leisure-based, or morally engaging activities – reading, meditating, writing, and more.

His signature technique, which he calls “quilted composition,” involves layering cut-out canvas shapes to create a tactile, dimensional painting surface. Working primarily in oil and rooted in impressionism, Amidu’s art pays tribute to the beauty of everyday moments. For him, painting is not only about aesthetics but a way to project lived experience and honour the joy, creativity, and quiet depth found in ordinary life.
