Babirye Erinah
Artistic Statement
“My work is an exploration of the profound connections between nature and the female body, to reflect resilience and transformation using mixed mediums. I focus on the intersections of the female body and nature to provoke thought and encourage dialogue on femininity found in nature. I am inspired by the cycles found in nature like growth, decay, renewal that mirror the journey of the feminine body, echoing themes of beauty, strength, and vulnerability.
Each piece seeks to honor the organic shapes, textures, and rhythms found in both landscapes and the human body using earthy tones, natural materials, and drawing inspiration from plants. I aim to evoke the raw beauty of nature while celebrating the diversity and strength of feminine identity. My art not only celebrates the female body but also seeks to re-establish our connection to nature inviting viewers to reconnect with the inherent recurrent environment that links us all.
By blending human features, fauna and plants, I invite viewers to consider the ways in which the body and the earth are intertwined, urging them to recognise the intrinsic, powerful harmony that exists between them.”
